Lyrics:
Voice of Judas:(Carl Anderson)
VOICE OF JUDAS
Every time I look at you I don't understand
Why you let the things you did get so out of hand.
You'd have managed better if you'd had it planned.
Why'd you choose such a backward time in such a strange land?
If you'd come today you could have reached a whole nation.
Israel in 4 BC had no mass communication.
Don't you get me wrong.
I only want to know.
CHOIR
Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ,
Who are you? What have you sacrificed?
Jesus Christ Superstar,
Do you think you're what they say you are?
VOICE OF JUDAS
Tell me what you think about your friends at the top.
Who'd you think besides yourself's the pick of the crop?
Buddah, was he where it's at? Is he where you are?
Could Mahomet move a mountain, or was that just PR?
Did you mean to die like that? Was that a mistake, or
Did you know your messy death would be a record breaker?
Don't you get me wrong.
I only want to know.
CHOIR
Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ,
Who are you? What have you sacrificed?
Jesus Christ Superstar,
Do you think you're what they say you are?
(Repeat)

December 1st, 2008 at 16:25:28 "If you'd come today, you could have reached a whole nation." Would it really be different this time?
December 1st, 2008 at 16:48:27 All very good points! I love all of the gospels, but John's is the one I love most. He always wrote of himself in the third person, telling the story with the focus on Jesus as the Son of God...It's really no surprise as the surviving disciple he would be able to see Jesus again in heaven in all his glory. I do wonder why John and Jesus' mother was left out? Then again, the focus was supposed to be from how they imagined Judas' perspective might be.
December 1st, 2008 at 17:11:26 Then again, there's no Virgin Mary in this, either. Whether you're Orthodox, Catholic or Protestant you have to agree that she's a pretty important figure in the story of the Passion and Crucifixion.
December 1st, 2008 at 17:34:25 Not totally convinced, no. But the Transfiguration certainly help quite a bit and prevented them from losing faith completely, I think. This might be why Peter and John were so easy to believe the news of the Resurrection as reported by the myrrh-bearing women disciples and went to the tomb to see for themselves. And yeah, Saint John was the only one at the Crucifixion. This is a very important aspect to his character in the Gospel. It's too bad he didn't some type of role in this production.
December 1st, 2008 at 17:57:24 You know, it sounds nice, but I have to wonder~ When Jesus was arrested all the disciples scattered; Peter denied him 3 times...Only John hung around. They all hid in fear until after his resurrection...It seems that they weren't really convinced until then.
December 1st, 2008 at 18:20:23 Carl puts the funk & soul in JCS!!!
December 1st, 2008 at 18:43:22 Geonus, Interesting take on that. Minus Elijah and Moses, it does resemble that, it reminds me of the resurrection, but it doesn't appear in the motion picture, plus it happens before Christ was crucified. I'm not sure what the directors were doing there. The last scene "John 19:41" has an interesting point, with a shepherd crossing left to right, under the empty cross. I don't know if it was intended, but it provokes a lot of thought at the end of the Movie.
December 1st, 2008 at 19:06:21 PS Fatdanios, I am an American for whatever matter that means to you. ~Ric~
December 1st, 2008 at 19:29:20 It seems one very important aspect of this channel is being overlooked here. This is MY channel and as such I moderate what's posted here. Until such time as things get out of hand-I encourage all with an opinion, to post any reasonably mature comments on these pages. If they become ludicrous or plain obscene, they will simply disappear. ~Ric~
December 1st, 2008 at 19:52:19 I love the dawning of the white clothes at the beginning as it reminds me of the Transfiguration. That what when Jesus took Peter, James and John up to Mt. Tabor and allowed them to see His glory. The Fathers of the Church say that this happened forty days before His Crucifixion, that what when they saw Him crucified, they would not despair since they knew Him to be God and the Conqueror of death. I don't know if they were going for that or not here, but that is what it reminded me of.
December 1st, 2008 at 20:15:18 Oh! I see that you are an American! Just one other thing, don't be too eager to silence people just because something they say offends you. One day you might get your wish and then you won't even be allowed to voice an opinion. Remember, a lot of men have bled and died to give you that right.
December 1st, 2008 at 20:38:17 "Youtube is NOT The place to discuss religious beliefs". Says who? Where is it written in the rule book? I'd say that this is a perfect place for people to discuss Jesus Christ! As the song says:"Jesus Christ Superstar who are you what have you sacrificed?" Maybe you ought to consider that very seriously because one day you WILL be required to answer that. I didn't look to see what country you're from, but here in America, where I am we have this wonderful concept called "Free Speech."
December 1st, 2008 at 21:01:16 While I respect your opinion (also, good for you to have something to believe in), the point is is that Youtube is NOT The place to discuss religious beliefs. We all know that Superstar was a controversial film. But I am seriously getting tired of seeing all these comments spreading the word of a god across the internet when they have no relation to the material advocated. Please either create a video to discuss your beleifs and hold the conversation there or stay relevant to this video.
December 1st, 2008 at 21:24:15 Ah nice, I hope she was happy with their performance. Seems like the critics also liked it :)
